Family View

Not a pile of facts. A plan they can follow.

Your family opens their copy with the code on their access card. It starts with your note and who to ring first, and turns what you recorded into clear next steps.

After a death

What to do when someone dies, step by step.

A checklist built from your own information, with the usual steps everyone needs. Tick through it, or print it.

  • In the right order. Medical certificate, registering the death, Tell Us Once, then your first instructions.
  • Your people, your references. "Tell Claire Smith, the executor" with her phone number. "Find the original will: Ashby & Lowe, ref AL/4471."
  • Clear about the law. When probate is needed, how Scotland differs, and what the executors deal with.

If you can't manage your affairs

The same copy helps your attorneys.

If you lose capacity, the information pages show your attorneys where everything is: accounts, bills, policies and who to contact. Family View explains that a power of attorney can only be used while you are alive, once it's registered, by the people it names.

  • Search everything. Type "pension", "solicitor" or "passport" and go straight to it.
  • On a phone or tablet too. They open their copy through the KinLogs Reader. Handy when they're on hold to a bank.
  • Read-only. Nothing they do changes your information.

The access card

A code to open it. A seal to trust it.

Each family copy has its own access code, printed on a card that you keep with the second stick or give to your executor. The seal code on the card matches the one inside the copy, which proves it came from you and hasn't been altered.

Their code never opens your own file. Only your password, security questions or recovery key do that.

What they need

Nothing to install, nothing to sign up for.

The family copy

A single file. Keep it on the second stick, or give it to your executor ahead of time.

The access code

Printed on the access card. Keep the card somewhere your family will find it.

A computer, tablet or phone

On a computer, open the file in any web browser, even without the internet. On an iPad or phone, open it through the KinLogs Reader. It's unlocked on the device and nothing is uploaded.

Having this information doesn't give anyone legal authority to act. Organisations will ask for a registered power of attorney while you're alive, and the grant of probate (confirmation in Scotland) after death. KinLogs tells your family where those are.
