Optional upgrade
All the convenience of online. None of the exposure.
KinLogs Sync keeps every stick up to date for you, and means losing a stick never means losing your KinLogs. The app still runs only from your memory stick. The online copy is encrypted before it leaves your computer, and it's useless without your password and the KinLogs app on your stick.

Watch
KinLogs Sync in three minutes
What Sync is, why you might want it, and how the online copy stays locked. Subtitles are available from the player's menu.
Why people add Sync
Update once. Every stick follows.
No fetching the second stick
Leave it with your will or your solicitor. It updates itself the next time it's opened.
Two of you, one KinLogs
Give your partner a linked stick, and you both see and update the same KinLogs.
Lose a stick, lose nothing
Link a new stick and carry on. Even if every stick is lost, your recovery key gets you back.
Every stick in the family
A stick for your partner and one for each of your children? Linked sticks collect your newest version, or your newest family copy, so nobody reads an old one.
In one minute
What Sync does, and what it doesn't.
Without Sync, your KinLogs is on your sticks and nowhere else. To update the second stick, you bring it home and copy your changes across. Sync does that for you, using an encrypted copy that only your sticks can collect.
You save a change
The app and your file are on the stick. Your password never leaves it.
Encrypted on your computer
Only the encrypted file is sent. Nothing readable leaves your computer.
A box we can't open
The Sync server stores the encrypted file in London. It has no password and no key.
Collected and opened
Next time a linked stick is opened online, it collects the newest version and you unlock it as usual.
Do I need it?

Both are secure. The two-stick kit on its own is completely air-gapped: nothing about you exists online at all. Sync adds convenience and a copy away from home, and the online copy stays locked: encrypted, and useless without your password and the app on your stick.
Still locked, even online
The online copy is useless to anyone else.
- Only the encrypted file goes online. The KinLogs app, your password, your security answers and your recovery key stay on your stick.
- Collecting it needs a linked stick. Each stick has its own link. A new stick is linked with a one-time pairing code, or with your recovery key if every stick is lost.
- Opening it needs your password and the KinLogs app. Even if someone took the encrypted file from our server, it would be useless to them. A long password keeps it that way.
- We can't read it either. The server never has your password or key, so we have nothing to hand over.
- Cancel a lost stick. From any other linked stick, cancel it and it can no longer collect or change anything.

Setting it up
Four steps, about five minutes.
- Get SyncYou receive a Sync code and the Sync version of the KinLogs app for your sticks.
- Turn it onOpen KinLogs from your stick, go to Settings and backup, and enter your Sync code.
- Link your other sticksChoose Link another stick to get a one-time pairing code, and type it on the other stick.
- Carry on as normalSave as usual. Your other sticks pick up the change the next time they're opened online.

Nothing is overwritten
Go back if you need to.
Sync keeps your last 30 saved versions. If two sticks are changed at the same time, KinLogs asks which to keep instead of overwriting either.
Every stick keeps its own full copy too, so it opens and works with no internet at all.
Good to know
Questions people ask about Sync.
Can I add Sync later?
Yes, and you don't need to start again. Put the Sync version of the KinLogs app on your sticks in place of the old one. Your file stays exactly as it is. Then turn Sync on with your code.
What if Sync, or KinLogs, closed down?
Your sticks carry on as they are. Each one holds the app and a full copy of your file, so it opens with no internet and no Sync. You'd simply update the second stick yourself again.
What if I stop paying?
Everything keeps working on your sticks. There's a 30-day grace period if a payment lapses, and you can delete the online copy whenever you like.
Is it safe if your server is hacked?
Yes. We only hold encrypted files and never your password or key, so there's nothing readable to steal. Each copy can only be collected by its linked sticks and opened with your password.
Does my family need Sync?
No. Family copies open on their own with the access code. With Sync, a linked family stick also collects your newest family copy.
Can I see my file on a phone?
The KinLogs Reader opens shared copies only: a family or handover copy, showing just the sections you chose. It never connects to the internet, so it can't reach the online copy, and it can't open your full KinLogs.
Sync pricing
A small yearly fee. Optional, always.
